]]> Our second annual History Camp is July 21-24, 2025!

Students, 6th-8th grade are welcome to dive into history with the Vicksburg Historical Society.
Campers will get the chance to be hands on in all buildings of the historic village during an in depth tour. They will spend a day learning about military history with historians from the Michigan Military Technical & Historical Society. We will explore food from the past, learn some archiving basics, and do an art project.
Registration is $50, scholarships may be available.

Join us Saturday, December 7, 14, 21, and 28, 11am-5pm for activities for all ages:
  • Check out our model train layout where volunteers will operate the train, chat about the layout, and even teach you to operate the controls!
  • Visit our toy exhibit showcasing toys spanning the decades along with a beautiful 1920’s Christmas display!
  • Make a beaded decoration/ornament or color a picture to take home after visiting the model train!
  • On December 14, stop in during “Christmas in the ‘Burg” for free hot cocoa and treats. Live Christmas music will be provided with string duo The Raven Bow (Bob and Kathy Brandt)!
  • Take a stroll or drive through Christmas Card Lane.

History Camp is for students entering 6th-8th grade in the 2024-25 school year. Attendees will spend their time at the Historic Village learning about Vicksburg history, railroads, local industry, music, and how to protect family artifacts at home.

We are proud to present a speaker each day to highlight a different subject. All attendees will be provided a t-shirt, snacks, and interesting topics to keep them learning.

]]> A Trip on the Grand Rapids & Indiana: Vicksburg to Petoskey

Join us for the second installment of the 2023 Speaker Series with Michigan railroad historian Mark Worrall.

Mr. Worrall will take us on a trip up the GR&I railroad. Beginning on Vicksburg, the presentation will follow the rail line up to Petoskey, giving the audience a view of what they might have seen in the heyday of rail travel.

The Speaker Series is held in Township Hall in the Historic Village at 2pm. This is a free event and is open to the public. Please join us!
