Kalamazoo County historian Steve Rossio will present The Life of Private David Lee Sutfin, 126th Infantry, 32nd Division, World War I as part of the  Vicksburg Historical Society Speaker Series  on Sunday, June 22, 2025 at 2pm in the Vicksburg Historic Village Township Hall building. The Speaker Series is free and open to the public. A $5 donation is recommended.Follow the signs to park on the grass near the building.

Vicksburg Historical Society Board meetings are held the second Wednesday of every month at 6:15pm at the Depot Museum. Meetings are open to the public.

The Vicksburg District Library will be hosting their Third Annual Truck & Vehicle Expo at the Vicksburg Historic Village On Friday, July 11. Join your Vicksburg Library youth librarian, Ms. Susan, for this special event with community vehicles and fun handouts!  Children will be able to see and explore a police car, a new fire truck and a historic fire truck, an ambulance, a school bus, and construction vehicles!  Special times for toddlers:  10 - 11 a.m. and elementary age: 11 a.m. - 12 noon.   We will be in the gravel parking lot area of the Vicksburg Historic Village.  Hope [...]

Author and Michigan promoter Dianna Higgs Stampfler will join us to talk about Kalamazoo County Characters, following the release of her latest book of the same name. Pick up your copy ahead of time at Gilbert and Ivy @100 South Main Street, or at the event. Dianna will be signing copies! Our second annual History Camp is July 21-24, 2025, 10am-3pm! Register here: https://form.jotform.com/241134786518158 Students, 6th-8th grade are welcome to dive into history with the Vicksburg Historical Society.Campers will get the chance to be hands on in all buildings of the historic village during an in depth tour. They will spend a day learning about military history with historians from the Michigan Military Technical & Historical Society. We will explore food from the past, learn some archiving basics, and do an art project. Registration is $50, scholarships may be available.

Ric Mixter is a diver, historian, podcaster, and one of only a handful of people to have actual dove the Edmund Fitzgerald. He will bring his first hand knowledge of the most famous shipwreck in freshwater to our 2025 Speaker Series. The Speaker Series is free and open to the public. A $5 donation is encouraged.217 S.
